Hornby Island Eagle Update and New Eagle Cam!
A new webcam of a eagles nest will be up on the web today (May 5, 2006) according to the web site that showed the Hornby Island eagles.
Millions of people viewed the eagles nest on Hornby Island in British Columbia. Unfortunately neither of the two eggs in the original eagle's nest hatched.
As reported by CBC Doug Carrick, who set up a webcam to view inside the nest on British Columbia's Hornby Island, told CBC News he saw the broken egg Thursday morning.
"At 11:24 a.m. the eagle got up and the egg was completely broken. I looked as closely as I could but could see no evidence of a chick hatched successfully or of a dead chick," wrote Carrick in an e-mail.
A search went on to find new nests. The web site that showed the original nest is now reporting that a webcam will be set up to show a new nest. Reports on the radio say that the new nest will show eaglets that have already hatched. One nest under observation (but unfortunately unaccessible by web cam) has three eaglets in it.
